The International Bienal or Ceramics of Marratxí is an international competition of ceramics artists from world wide. Its purpose is to further artist´s creativity and innovation and to support those who work and create in this profession.
At the same time we try to make international publicity for Marratxí as a community of ceramics and a long and continuous tradition of potteries. Marratxí backs quality, innovation and arts of ceramic works as a product of cultural identity today and in the future.
The biennial contest is an opportunity to make known one another, both we ourselves as ceramics municipality and the artists themselves of any nationality.
The fifth Bicma edition was held in 2014.
In the year 2014, at the same time when the "Fira del Fang" (traditional pottery and ceramists fair) takes place, the finalist´s works of the 5th BICMA will be exhibited in a center hall of Marratxí Ayuntamiento (town hall), over a period of about one month.
The jury is in charge to select the finalists works, and among them the two prize winner pieces. The "Illes Balears" prize winner receives 6000 euros (first prize) and the "Marratxí Terra de Fang" winner , 4000 euros (second prize).
