Marratxí and the ceramics always have had a very special link. Link that the Council wants to promote, not only for respect to a centenarian tradition, but because it assumes a clear bet for the future. In a socieconomic context so complex as the present, it is essential to promote the innovation, the new technologies and designs. This is what our International Biennial achieves with the ceramics.
This IV Biennial International Ceramics of Marratxi is the first that we celebrate since I am Mayor, fact that fills me with proud and hope. Proud because the prospects are very good, since the first three editions of the BICMA have been notable by a participation each time bigger of artists from all over the world, with works of an exceptional creative level.
And hope for the changes that we include in this new edition. The most important is that the exhibition of the finalist works will be done in the building of the Fira del Fang, with the aim of bringing still closer the works of the artistic ceramics to the public in general. An extraordinary opportunity for the majorcans who for sure they will not miss.
I encourage all the ceramists who want to participate, we will receive you with open arms, both who have already taken part in other seasons, and who are going to do it for first time.
